Our Story

 

Hi, my name is Sunny, and I’m so glad you stopped by the OilNest!. My love of natural medicine started as a young child when my favorite grandmother, Grams, used to read me her natural health journals cover to cover! Though I didn’t understand most of what she read to me, I enjoyed spending time with her and thought it was interesting enough to listen to. During my visits with Grams, she would also pump me with Vitamin C and try natural remedies on my terrible seasonal allergies. Her efforts always helped me feel a lot better, and those experiences gave me an openness and many positive associations toward natural medicine.

So naturally, decades later as an adult, when my good friend introduced me to essential oils to help with an injury my son had, I was open and interested! I was amazed at how quickly the oils helped heal his hand- wow! I have enjoyed using oils ever since, and believe they serve an important role in many homes. 

I have also known the frustration of misplacing your favorite oils- you know, the ones you use ALL the time! I’ve also been guilty of accidentally knocking an oil bottle off our slick kitchen counter and into the garbage can, for it to never be seen again! Shoved in drawers, piled in baskets, fallen under beds and tables, these little bottles are slippery and easily misplaced. It seemed like the oils I used the most were the ones I had the hardest time keeping track of- frustrating! Not to mention leaked oils staining our countertops and dissolving paint on furniture– yikes!

One day, I told my husband, Benjamin: it would be so helpful to have a little holder for the oils I use the most so that I am not always having to track them down or worry about them cluttering the counters. It would be great if it could hold just a few oils and hang on the wall in the rooms where I use them all the time. I sketched a few ideas of what I was thinking - a small, pretty, functional home for my most used oils, right where I was always using them! And that’s where the OilNest came from. Benjamin took the idea and ran with it, figured out all the many details and design issues. He also created a unique bracket so that you can keep your OilNest on the wall or on the counter - whichever you prefer! We really hope your OilNest makes a helpful home for your most used oils!
